Considered as one of the most beautiful World Heritage Sites in the world, the Horton Plains National Park in Sri Lanka is spread over the two highest mountains in the area called Kirigalpotta and Thotapola. The plateau-like structure along with plains on one end, thick forests and mountains on other make the Central Highlands of Sri Lanka. You will find a number of waterfalls, lakes, rocky hills and views of the ocean in this part of the country. The forest is home to a number of wild animals and birds, however, most large animals remain elusive and unapproachable.

The distance from the Hotel to the National Park is approximately 32 kms. The park could be approached either by air, road or train. The total Area: 31.6 Sq. Km. and the opening hours is from 6 AM – 6 PM.

For trekkers and explorers, the best time to visit the Horton Plains National Park is at the beginning of the year, from January to March. The weather is quite cloudy and misty around the year; however, the beginning of the year has less rainfall which leads to better views. You would also come across lesser crowds. It is also best to start early for your journey to the park and reach the World’s End by nine in the morning to ensure a good view.
