Mountain Trekking

The varied topography of Sri Lanka provides an ideal setting for trekking, particularly in the central hills. Exploring the tea plantations and paddy fields offers a captivating journey, surrounded by awe-inspiring views of the scenic landscape, creating an unforgettable experience. Additionally, mountain trekking is an adventure in itself, involving a drive to the mountain’s base and a subsequent ascent to the summit.

We offer four trekking options, each varying in duration from 2 to 3 hours to 5 to 6 hours:

Single Tree Mountain:Located just 1 km from the hotel, this trek spans 2 to 3 hours. The summit offers a panoramic 360° view of Nuwara Eliya and the surrounding mountains.

Horton Plains:Situated 32 km from the hotel, this trek lasts 5 to 6 hours. Despite its modest 31 square kilometers, Horton Plains boasts a remarkable array of Sri Lanka’s biodiversity, featuring numerous plants and animals not found elsewhere.

Thotupola Mountain: As the third highest peak in Sri Lanka, it is located on the eastern side of Horton Plains. The trek to the summit, approximately 4 km through the forest, is a rewarding adventure.

Kirigalpoththa Mountain: Ranking as the second highest mountain in Sri Lanka, it is situated on the western boundary of Horton Plains, adjacent to an untouched tropical montane rainforest and the Belihul stream. The summit provides splendid views of the plains, Dimbula Valley, Adams Peak, Great Western, Thotupola Mountain, and the Namunukula range. This trek is recommended for experienced and physically fit hikers.
