The Grand Heritage Tour is aimed at letting you delve deeper into our incredible heritage. Immerse yourself in the rich heritage of Grand Hotel – take a step by step walk around the Hotel with our Grand Historian, P G Weerasinghe who counts more than 52 years of experience working for the Hotel joining as a paper boy at the tender age of 14 years doing errands after school. The Tour would take around 1 – 2 hours depending on the interest of the guest and our Historian would narrate his memories with some of the leading world personalities who stayed or visited the Hotel and some interesting and noteworthy happenings of yesteryears.
The tour would consist of the entire hotel and especially the building which was constructed by Sir Edward Barnes during his tenure as the 5th Governor of Ceylon from 1824 – 1831. The Hotel is an excellent example of a mansion from the Elizabethan era. It retains the stateliness and grandeur of a Colonial Mansion and rightfully claims its place as one of the best hill country hotels in Asia. The chandeliers decorate the Corridors of the building along with artefacts transporting you back in time to the tranquillity of a bygone era.
There is bound to be something to capture your interest as you engage in this tour.
